From: The Last of Us & The Last of Us Part 2
So... Ellie. What can I say that won't make me sound Wild. I found TLOU when Season 1 aired, I had know of the game but never played it. I was a fan of S1, and then watched S2... and it was S2. But I watched a no-commentary playthrough of TLOU Part 2, and woah. Woahh. Oh man.
First off, hi Ellie i'm so sorry your life happened the way it did but i'm here as a shoulder to cry on.
Second off, watching her arc? Being forced as a player to be involved in it, walking side by side as she progressively makes more violent decisions- WOAH! It's fascinating both from a design aspect and from a story aspect to have someone that the player felt so nuturing towards make such a turn into violence, and have to go every step of the way with them. Fascinating.
I think I found Ellie and her story at an important time in my life, making me sit and reckon with myself how far I would be willing to go for those I love. I've sat and thought what it would mean to be her age, faced with what she felt she had to do, and damn. I can't even blame her. To be nineteen and put yourself through all that, burn the world for what you feel is right? Makes total sense.
I could go on for a really long time about all of my feelings about her, the world she inhabits, the life she lives- it really makes me sit and tear it apart like a dog with a toy. I will be an Ellie defender until the day I die, sign me UP!
